How it works

  1. 1

Connect your source and your Microsoft account

Connect Shopify, Meta, Google Ads or any other source with OAuth, then connect the Microsoft account that owns your OneDrive or SharePoint.

  2. 2

Pick an Excel workbook (or BigQuery)

Create a new .xlsx or connect an existing one in OneDrive or a SharePoint document library. Each export tab maps to a worksheet. Choose BigQuery instead if you prefer a warehouse for Power BI.

  3. 3

    Connect Power BI

In Power BI Desktop or the Power BI service, add Excel, OneDrive, SharePoint or BigQuery as a data source and select your workbook or dataset.

FAQ

How do I get Shopify or ads data into Power BI?

Power BI reads Excel and BigQuery natively, so sync your data to one of them first. Connect the source to SyncRange, export to an Excel workbook in OneDrive or SharePoint, or to BigQuery, on a schedule, then add that workbook or dataset in Power BI Desktop or the Power BI service as a data source.

Where does SyncRange write Excel data?

To an Excel workbook stored in your OneDrive or in a SharePoint document library. You can create a new .xlsx file or connect an existing one, and each export tab maps to a worksheet.

Do I need Microsoft admin approval?

OneDrive Excel usually works after you grant access. SharePoint site lists often need an admin step in Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) in work or school tenants. The Excel configuration doc lists the permissions SyncRange requests and how an admin can grant consent.

Should I use Excel or BigQuery as the Power BI data source?

Both work. Excel is best for smaller datasets and ad-hoc reporting and is easy to share through OneDrive or SharePoint. BigQuery is best for large datasets and data warehousing, with SQL queries and joins.

Which sources can I sync to Excel and Power BI?

Shopify, BigCommerce, Etsy, Faire, Amazon Seller, Seal Subscriptions, ShipStation, Klaviyo, Facebook Ads, Google Ads, TikTok Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Bing Ads, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Business Profile. Each one has its own Excel and Power BI workflow page linked above.

How often does the data refresh, and is there a free plan?

SyncRange exports run on the schedule you set, from daily to as often as every 15 minutes depending on your plan, and your Power BI reports refresh based on that export schedule. You can start free, with a free plan and no credit card required.
